From 2007, one of the most bizarre leaflets I've seen. Alan Shatter dressed up (or photoshoped) in Star Trek gear.
Comparing himself to William Shatner and lots more besides.... Shatter regained the seat he had lost in 2002. (his record at electionsireland.org)

Funnily enough William Shatners middle name is Alan, William Alan Shatner.
Alan Shatter ....Alan Shatner ... Its a pity Alan Shatters not younger , otherwise there would be a chance that he was named Alan as a tribute to the Star Trek Actor!

Make your own Gun

using a 3d Printer:

independent.co.uk:

Gun control activists have voiced fears that the world’s first firearm made entirely with 3D printer technology was successfully fired, and the blueprint used to make it was made available online to download for free.

A group described as the “Pirate Bay of 3D Printing” successfully fired the firearm in Texas on Saturday. Defense Distributed, which spent a year designing the handgun, dubbed “Liberator”, built it from plastic on a 3D printer bought on eBay for $8,000 (£5,140).

The computer-aided design file, or CAD, containing Liberator’s blueprint has been made available by Defense Distributed to download for free – it will allow anyone with a 3D printer to create their own “Wiki weapon”.

A 3D printer operates by spraying layer upon layer of plastic, ceramics and even metals to form complex objects. For several years, manufacturing firms have used the technology to create prototypes and components, but it is now increasingly available to the public – in some cases the price of a 3D printer has dropped to $500. Physical copies of the Liberator, created using the blueprint, would be untraceable: no serial number, no sales receipt.

Defense Distributed was founded last year by Cody Wilson, 25, a law student at the University of Texas, who calls himself a crypto-anarchist. Wilson told the BBC: “There are states all over the world that say you can’t own firearms… [but] technology says you can pretty much be able to have whatever you want. It’s not up to the political players any more.”

Gun control activists fear they could all too easily fall into the wrong hands. Victoria Baines, from Europol’s cybercrime centre, said: “As time goes on, and as this technology becomes more user-friendly and more cost effective, it is possible some risks will emerge.”

Defense Distributed recently received a license from the US Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, which allows Wilson and his colleagues to manufacture and sell guns. However, the organisation has faced setbacks. In the wake of the mass shooting at Sandy Hook, its gun blueprints were removed from the CAD-file search engine Thingiverse. Its account on crowd-funding website Indiegogo was frozen, and 3D printed manufacturer Stratasys refused the group permission to use its machines.

Yet the group has already created a high-capacity ammunition magazine for the AR-15 assault rifle, which it called “Cuomo”, after New York state Governor Mario Cuomo, a leading proponent of gun control. Its 3D printed magazine for the AK-47 was named “Feinstein”, after gun control advocate, California Senator Diane Feinstein.

US congressman Steve Israel wants a ban on 3D printed gun components included in the Undetectable Firearms Act, which bans the possession of any weapon that cannot be detected by a metal detector or X-ray machine. The New York Democrat told Forbes: “All the acts of Congress will not be effective if someone can go to a Staples, buy a 3D printer and manufacture plastic weapons components in their basement.”

Bad Motherfucker

First I thought it was something from a Jason Statham movie but thankfully it is not:

living like a hermit

Knight had apparently lived in the woods for 27 years, speaking to another person just once in all that time, according to CNN affiliate WCSH. That person was a hiker he came across on a trail in the 1990s. Investigators say he kept his mind sharp with the books he stole during break-ins, the station reported.

I was hoping to find an awkward interview with Ryan ‘Tub of shit’ Tubridy but I did find this classic instead:

‘Tubridy invited the American actor Cuba Gooding Junior to join him on set.

There then followed a bizarre encounter that left many in the audience and at home squirming in their seats in discomfort as Tubridy tried to handle the admittedly difficult actor.

With his arms defensively crossed, Tubridy allowed the interview to flail out of control before he lapsed into an awkward silence.

As he failed to bring the excitable actor down to earth, his demeanour screamed panic and he looked like somebody who desperately wanted to be anywhere but there.

And at one cringeworthy moment the interview lapsed into silence, dead air on TV that sounded like an early death knell for Tubs.

It started off promising enough with Gooding recalling his performance in the Oscar winning ‘Jerry Maguire’ with Tom Cruise but it descended into farce when Tubridy asked him about him turning down a part in a Spielberg movie.

“Ah why ya wanna bring that up man? That was a cold move,” Gooding replied before Tubridy made an ill-judged remark about his wife.

“Eh, did you enjoy a smooch with Beyonce on the set of Fighting Temptations’,”Tubridy asked an incredulous Gooding before the actor started to rant.

“Why would you say that?” Gooding asked. “What is going on? Let’s ask him that then we can get some leprechauns dancing across the stage. What happened to the love for the black man over here?

“You want me to dance like a little midget for you Ryan?” he asked.

“It gonna be one of those shows,” Tubridy sighed before jokingly asking him to dance like a midget’.

fight crime with … crime

The Gardai were like Tom Cruise in Minorty Report. They were pre-empting crime by stopping people getting off the Luas yesterday, seizing their bags of cans and pouring them in the bin. People were looking on shocked at this Gestapo tactic of confiscating private property.

At least this time they weren’t drinking them.

search engine overload

This is an experiment and a blatant attempt to get more search traffic. It is also due to a lack of anything else to put here.

The following is an alphabetical list of the main search terms people enter before arriving here. There are a lot of people interested in “fuck”, “gardai”, “ronan o’gara”, “marty morrissey”, “max mosley” and “rathkeale travellers”. It is a worrying indictment of my interests.

Old Halloween Photo

Old Halloween Photo

I always remember the day before St Valentines. It is when I started to write this blog when I thought I was becoming a werewolf.

Thursday night:

I wondered if was becoming a werewolf. I blamed the moon for my lack of sleep on Wednesday night. I got out of bed at eleven this morning and only really woke up at 5pm after drinking a litre and a half of a red liquid that I can get my hands on, sometimes. It was the first time today that I actually felt awake.

This week has been hellish.

There is once inconvenience I cannot escape, my job. I could leave it but it brings me structure and is interesting, if you are ok with people who are borderline insane or definitely temporarily. People there call it the nut house; it is the opposite of working in every other office I have seen. Some might say that’s a good thing and it is up to a point. When something has to be done there its total chaos at work. The chaos just ended for me and is going to start again soon, but hopefully not. Someone presses a button somewhere and everything goes a bit crazier for a spell.

How time flies.

I really should write more of the diary style posts again but I am lacking in good material. I am working hard on another project. I no longer have an employer who expects very little from me. Also, time spent drinking in bars is also reduced to zero – as a result social interaction with members of the public is also reduced, that was a key component for what I used to write.

I got nostalgic looking at the old blog posts from February 2009. Comparing life between now and then I can definetly say I am much happier.
