impatient, obnoxious, petty, argumentative, and obsessed over meaningless details

the euro is more important than the british

This wont go down well in the UK and especially not with the racist train woman:

Unfortunately the details are not really all that exciting:

In Bild, Germany’s three-million-selling tabloid, Nicklaus Blome said: “The euro is more important than the Brits.” It was true, he said, that the euro rescue plans had deepened the split in the EU. “But if the euro is not saved, we won’t be talking about temporary or deepening divisions in Europe – we’ll be talking about its demise. A temporary split can be healed in the future. An end to the euro, on the other hand, would be irreversible.”

What comparison are you trying to make here Euro V Brits. It has a sort of FF Bertie/Brian, brutally frank, sort of honest, really truthful, the bastards are jealous of all our new houses, ring about it.
At the end of the day the political map of Europe looks kinda 1942.
So 26 countries have voted to aspire to behave like Germans or be fined – hey result! Despite the fact that two of the countries are in receivership.
What has changed? “Prosperity in our Time” – why not?
    Looking forward to it.
    I’m happy for you

ElSido – you are clearly annoyed. Is it because I told you I did not want to get involved in Nazi comparisons when I re-used the title of a Max Keiser post on http://atoast2toast.com/2011/11/21/germany-4-0 ?

It seems you want an outburst and you feel you are being denied the opportunity. Am I annoying you by alluding to something by showing what the Germans are now publishing in their ‘influential tabloid’?

The truth is that I found this story amusing. David Cameron went out on a limb saying he would veto the EU deal. I showed a-proud-to-be-English acquaintance the German headline on Friday and he said “this is how it started before”. Sadly the world war comparisons bullshit has returned. I thought winning the world cup in 66 would have done for them.

I am surprised at being compared to Bertie and Fianna Fail. I do not think I have ever given the impression that I identify with them. You saw what I wrote about their Gombeen-ery on http://atoast2toast.com/2011/12/02/new-punts-have-arrived. I doubt anyone is jealous of ‘us’ or the problems we have or the ghost estates. My opinion is that Ireland is like a fly on the Elephants back. Things got out of hand here but now our fate is entwined with whatever happens next with the major players.

People here seem more interested in wearing Xmas Jumpers and Tallafornia. Personally I am working on an escape plan.

Btw, why are you happy for me ?

Sorry Toast – I thought my comments on German views of Keynesian Economics valid, though if you do not want to discuss them, fair enough.

The main point of my rant – above – And it is fair enough, I suppose to call it that. Is that I read your post having just watched and read news on the Euro debate. The “News” issue appeared to be Cameron going out on a limb. Though given the Conservative/Tory view of Europe it is difficult to see what else he could have done.
Whilst it’s easy to use the “66 cup” argument here. There is a point about what appears to be a democratic deficit within the European Union. My views on these matters are not helped by say, the appointment of Kevin Cardiff to a so-called “Court of Auditors”.
If you want to draw Orwellian parallels here, they are fairly easy.
What annoyed me was this item of “News” appeared to be being used a a distraction for the fact that sod all had happened at the conference, except weak and farcical statements of intent. Grand Standing was the order of the day. German, French and English.

I’ve seen the Max Keiser stuff on London. Frankly, if the American crowd hadn’t got up to monkey business there, they would have got up to it somewhere else.

I read the zerohedge link you posted and whilst I don’t understand “high finance” . It seems fairly apparent that the Basel Agreements could have no other logical outcome than the over declaration of Capital Assets on Balance Sheets and the leveraging we have seen.
It is also the case that various “recent” changes to Accounting Statements made by Auditors a preference for “market reality” instead of “prudence” has contributed to this stupidity.

When I said “I was happy for you” I was being sarcastic – The matters, I mention above are for me, a cause of sadness. I was just in rant mode – sorry!
Perhaps I should blame the “Information Revolution”..

Your Keynesian analogy was clever and true. I did a bit of reading to verify this for myself.

I was more interested in pointing out the bizarre analogies of the past than in taking a position on either side. That is still the case and I don’t really feel like defending myself for the things I did not say.

        • atoast2toast December 14, 2011 at 6:49 pm

btw, El Sido, I do realise that in the list of “popular posts” to the side are some Nazi topics – you will notice they are neither sympathetic or glamorizing, they are just there as search engines like them. I find the subjects amusing and that is my only interest in that particular side of history.

“I am surprised at being compared to Bertie and Fianna Fail. I do not think I have ever given the impression that I identify with them. You saw what I wrote about their Gombeen-ery “ – I have just noticed that I have not answered to the above. In fairness Being hyper critical of the UK, whilst constantly deferring to the Germans is a fairly default gombeen Fianna Fail position. You identify with them, by virtue of your prejudice. I can’t reasonably fault my position here.

      • atoast2toast December 14, 2011 at 6:38 pm

A default gombeen position is kow-towing to officials like the proverbial schoolteacher when the priest is visiting.

I hate Fianna Fail and the disgusting things they represent. It is a push to infer I identify them by saying I like the Germans. You should check your own prejudices before projecting them onto me :)

Also, at what point was I hypercritical of the British? I personally have met a lot of nice British people and a lot more that I find dishonest and selfish but I don’t recall every saying anything about them here, and especially not being hypercritical. For the record I respect Nigel Farage and in ways I can see what Cameron was aiming to do to protect the square mile from a transaction tax.

Hi @Toast, saw you weren’t well, hope you are feeling better. I have a bit of the flu myself, so I sympathise.

  3. sdaedalus December 11, 2011 at 5:19 pm

The reason I’m leaving this comment here, and not on your ‘sick’ post is that you’ve shut the comments down on that lol.

    • atoast2toast December 12, 2011 at 1:35 pm

I was just a bit fluey for 2 weeks -0 feeling better now.

I set wordpress to close two week old posts – this is to minimise having to delete spam (actual spam, viagra stuff etc).

    • sdaedalus December 12, 2011 at 2:17 pm

Glad to hear you’re better. I’ve been feeling like I’m about to get the ‘flu for two or three weeks now, I fully expect it to descend upon me on Christmas Eve (as happened in 1989, and 1995, and 2001, and 2007…)

after El Sido broke the unwritten rule of this blog, which is DON’T MENTION THE WAR.

  5. El Sido December 11, 2011 at 9:09 pm

@ Toast – Gosh, sorry to hear you a not 100%
@ Sibs – What War are we talking about here.?

    • sdaedalus December 11, 2011 at 11:46 pm

World War 2. The guys whose names begin with ‘N’ and end with ‘Z’. You mentioned them on the previous post. The one in which @Toast explained his indisposition.

  6. sdaedalus December 11, 2011 at 11:47 pm

apologies, end with ‘S’ not ‘Z’. Though there is a ‘Z’ in there somewhere.

Gosh, I hope i haven’t been too cryptic here.
