bono is crap

Somebody was searcing for “www.u2 vrgin” and came here. I looked to see what other answers they would have found.

More recently Bono announced that the mayor of new york (Jay-Z) was about to come on stage to sing a mix of Sunday Bloody Sunday and Bob Marleys get up stand up. Clearly nothing is sacred.

U2 performs a free concert at the Brandenburg Gate to mark the 20th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall. The performance is part of the 2009 MTV Europe Music Awards. Both ‘One’ and ‘Magnificent’ are slightly abbreviated due to time constraints. Jay-Z joins in on Sunday Bloody Sunday and does a rap that morphs into a bit of ‘Get Up Stand Up.’ The first three songs air later during the MTV EMA broadcast. U2 wins Best Live Act during the ceremony.

One of U2’s most overtly political songs, its lyrics describe the horror felt by an observer of The Troubles in Northern Ireland, mainly focusing on the Bloody Sunday incident in Derry where British troops shot and killed civil rights marchers. Along with “New Year’s Day”, the song helped U2 reach a wider listening audience. It was generally well-received by critics on the album’s release

How did they go from singing about the troubles in the north to complete gibberish in “Get on your boots” ?

You don’t know how beautiful
You don’t know how beautiful you are
You don’t know, and you don’t get it, do you?
You don’t know how beautiful you are

That’s someone’s stuff they’re blowing up
We’re into growing up
Women of the future
Hold the big revelations

This says a lot:

I got a submarine
You got gasoline
I don’t want to talk about wars between nations

Not right now

Ronnie Wood was clearly better able to handle his drugs than Bono but I think this is where it all went wrong.

Alan Partridge said Sunday bloody sunday encapsulates all the frustrations of a Sunday. You wake up in the morning, you got to read all the sunday papers, the kids are running around, you have to mow the lawn and wash the car:

The Edge has a statue of the virgin mary on stage:

From: John

Hi-de-ho Answer Guy!

I was fortunate enough to be in the heart in Chicago on October 15. Standing there looking up in awe at Edge, the Almighty, who was all of 10 feet away from me, I scanned his side of the stage. Upon his massive control console amid all the dials, switches, sliders, blinking lights, and what not, I noticed a conspicuously placed mini-statue of what appeared to be the Virgin Mary. She was about 6 inches tall and appeared to be made of that yellow-tinted glow-in-the-dark plastic.

Can you tell me if there’s a story behind this? Is it a gift from his mom? A good-luck charm? I have never been this close during a show to notice it before now. Are there any other reported sightings of Mother Mary watching over Edge’s control tower?
