I know you keep asking why people read it. The toast is great cos it points out the absurdities of Irish life circa Celtic tiger. Everyone has stories about it or can relate to what you write…but its your take on it that makes it interesting. I guess there is a certain strata of people who despise what has happened to Ireland (the spirit of gracious living etc) and how we all earn more money for no reason. It fell into our lap and how now people expect jobs and mohitos and german cars just cos that’s what we deserve…because we turned the country around…and now its fucked again. I guess people expect Germany and are still stuck with Ireland. Nothing has changed from Charlies bank manager saying “isn’t it a great little country”. So maybe toast is a Seinfeld in Irish life. high praise indeed

Yes, everyone sees the absurdities and this is a place for me to vent. I guess the Slate magazine was a big influence, shame it is no more.
